History
Where it all began
After struggling with skin irritation from commercial soap products for many years, Rainwater Soap & Candle Co. owner Deidre decided to take things into her own hands. Thus, Rainwater Soap & Candle Co. was born!
Unlike most commercially produced products, Rainwater Soap & Candle Co. products are produced by hand in small batches right on beautiful Vancouver Island. All of our products are made with high quality, naturally sourced ingredients. So you can feel good about what you’re putting on your skin and bringing into your home.
Rainwater Soap & Candle Co. is a two-person operation. Deidre has recently recruited her husband who has become a master packager and delivery driver. All Rainwater products are produced in a converted garage space which contains 3 work benches with wax and oil melters as well as shelving for hold finished and curing products and supplies.
Deidre loves being able to create and work from home and tries to use recycled boxes and jars wherever possible to reduce her footprint on the environment. Rainwater Soap & Candle Co. also offers refills for anyone who is interested.

Founder & Creator
After experiencing dryness and irritation from commercially produced soaps, Deidre started making soaps and candles out of her home as a hobby.
After some time, she began attending markets alongside her daughter who is a talented jeweller. Individuals began learning about Rainwater Soap & Candle Co.’s quality products and businesses began asking about carrying Deidre’s products in their stores.
Deidre is passionate about nature and loves to forage for ingredients right in her backyard. She collects all of her own rainwater for her products and collects items like lavender, horsetail, calendula and other flowers for her creations.
When she’s not getting her hands dirty creating soaps and candles for her customers you can find Deidre outside enjoying all that Vancouver Island has to offer. Deidre truly embraces the natural environment on the Island, taking part in ATVing, camping, boating and getting her hands dirty gardening. Her biggest love in her life is her family and 3 adorable grandchildren.
Deidre has Métis heritage on her mother’s side and is committed to learning more about her culture and growing as an individual. Deidre loves her life on Vancouver Island and states that “I absolutley love the vastness of the island. I love that there is everything I want here so I never have to leave if I don’t want to. I love all the small communities, happy people. I love that there are mountains, ocean, river, lakes and many trails in less than an hour.”
